Stainless Steel Bird Spikes Manufacturer — SS304 Spikes and SS304 Base

When a building owner, facilities manager or pest control contractor needs a bird deterrent system that will last without maintenance, stainless steel is the only serious choice.

Our SS304 bird spikes use stainless steel spike needles mounted on a stainless steel base strip. Both components are fully SS304 — there is no galvanic corrosion between spike and base, no coating that weathers away, and no plastic that becomes brittle in UV. The system is designed to last the life of the building.

At Super Springs, we manufacture stainless steel bird spike systems from our factory in Gurgaon, India. We supply pest control distributors, construction companies, building product importers and facilities management companies across 14 countries.

How Bird Spikes Work

Bird spikes work by making a ledge, parapet, beam or surface physically uncomfortable to land on. The spike needles project outward at angles — when a bird attempts to land, the spikes make the surface unstable and the bird moves on.

They do not harm birds. The spikes are designed to deter, not injure. The needle tips are rounded and the angles are calculated to prevent landing without puncturing. This makes them compliant with wildlife protection regulations in most markets.

The system is entirely passive — no power, no maintenance, no consumables. Once installed correctly, it functions indefinitely.

Interlocking Base Design

Each base strip has precision-formed male and female ends. Strips interlock end-to-end for seamless joins — no gaps in coverage, no visible joint. This allows any required length to be covered using standard 500mm and 1000mm strips without cutting or overlap.

The interlocking system also maintains alignment across the full run, which is important on long parapets and wide beams where alignment drift causes gaps that birds exploit.

Installation

Screw fixing

Pre-drilled holes in the base allow fixing with screws directly into masonry, metal or timber. Recommended for permanent installation on parapets, structural beams, window sills and ledges. The most secure method — suitable for high-wind locations and high-rise buildings.

Adhesive fixing

The flat underside of the SS304 base bonds reliably to most building surfaces using construction-grade silicone or bird spike adhesive. Recommended for surfaces where drilling is not possible — heritage stonework, glass, ceramic, polished concrete. Adhesive fixing requires surface preparation and a minimum 24-hour cure before the system is exposed to wind or bird pressure.

Applications

  • Commercial and industrial building parapets and rooftops — the primary application

  • Window sills, ledges and architectural projections

  • Signboards and billboard frames

  • Air conditioning units and mechanical plant on rooftops

  • Bridge beams and infrastructure structures

  • Warehouse rooflines and loading bay canopies

  • Light poles, lamp posts and utility structures

  • Pipes, gutters and drainage channels on building exteriors

  • Chimney stacks and vent outlets

SS304 is the correct choice for all outdoor applications, coastal locations, industrial environments and anywhere with chemical exposure in the atmosphere. For premium architectural projects where even the stainless steel is considered visually intrusive, our PerchGuard Tension Wire System is the alternative.

Which Bird Species Are Deterred

Bird spike effectiveness depends on the spike opening width relative to the bird's body width.

• Pigeons — the most common target species. 140mm opening at 80 spikes/m is the standard specification.

• Seagulls and large birds — larger body, wider stance. Use 105mm opening at 66 spikes/m.

• Crows and corvids — similar sizing to pigeons. Standard 140mm opening is effective.

• Smaller birds (sparrows, starlings, mynas) — these land in smaller spaces. For small birds, the PerchGuard tension wire system or netting is more effective than spikes.

Supply and Packaging

  • We supply stainless steel bird spikes in bulk for large commercial and construction projects, as well as in smaller quantities for pest control distributors and installers.

  •  Spikes and base strips are packaged separately for convenient transport and storage

  • Assembly on site — spikes clip into the base strip during installation

  • Bulk packaging in corrugated cartons suitable for sea freight and air freight

  • Private label packaging available for distributors

  • Custom quantities — contact us with your project coverage area in metres and we will calculate the quantity required

Over time, we’ve realised that most customers are not looking for a “vendor” — they’re looking for a dependable manufacturing partner.

What matters to them:

  • Consistency across batches

  • Predictable performance

  • Clear communication

  • Long-term reliability

That’s exactly what we focus on.

Frequently asked Questions

Are both the spikes and the base stainless steel?

Yes. Our SS bird spike system uses SS304 spike needles and an SS304 stainless steel base. Both components are fully stainless — there is no plastic base and no galvanic corrosion risk between spike and base material.

Do bird spikes harm birds?

No. Bird spikes are designed to deter, not injure. The needle tips are rounded and the angles are calculated to make the surface uncomfortable to land on without puncturing. They comply with wildlife protection regulations in most markets.

How many metres of spike do I need?

Measure the total linear length of the surfaces to be protected. Allow 10% additional for cutting and joins at corners. We can calculate the required quantity from your project dimensions — contact us with the surface length and width of the ledges or parapets to be covered.

Can I fix them with adhesive instead of screws?

Yes. The flat underside of the SS304 base bonds well with construction-grade silicone or bird spike adhesive. Screw fixing is preferred for permanent and high-wind installations. Adhesive fixing is suitable for surfaces where drilling is not possible.

Do you supply for large commercial projects?

Yes. We supply in project quantities for large commercial and infrastructure installations. Contact us with your project coverage in linear metres and we will provide a quantity and pricing quotation.

Do you export?

Yes. We export to 14 countries. Bird spike systems are packed in corrugated cartons suitable for sea freight. We handle all export documentation.
